Additional Coach Certificate Courses
Team's Referee Duty
- U5/U6 - no referee; team volunteers help coaches
- U7 - youth referee may come to referee these games and each team shall provide one linesman (only to indicate when the ball has completely left the touch lines or goal lines); if no youth referee is available, teams shall manage their own game
- U8 - youth referees may come to help as Referee and/or ARs; teams shall manage to fulfill the rest of 3-person referee team for their own game (use linesmen if no certified ARs)
- U10/U12 - teams provide referees for the game AFTER theirs (teams playing the last game of the day on that field shall provide referees for the first game of the day on the same field); home team provides 1 certified referee and visitor team provides 2 certified referees; the most experienced referee among 3 of them shall officiate the game; team volunteer referees may be released if Region 2 brings in other referees for mentoring/observation
- U14 - each team provides 1 certifid and qualified AR for the game AFTER theirs (teams playing the last game of the day, in their division, shall provide ARs for the first game of the day on the same field; Region 2 will provide the Referee; team volunteer referees may be released if Region 2 also brings in other referees for mentoring/assessment

The new AYSO's Safe Haven training has combined all 3 old groups (referees, coaches, general volunteers) into a universal version. Returning volunteers all have the questions about their previous training/certificates. This posting is to clearify your questions. If you were only certified with Safe Haven Coach (online or in-class), you do not need to re-take the new AYSO's Safe Haven if you only want to coach or referee. You cannot perform the duty as a Team Parent nor a Board Member until you completed the new Safe Haven Certificate. To All Region 2 Volunteers (Coaches/Referees/Team Parents), All of you are required to submit a hardcopy of Volunteer Application Form printed from eAYSO system every year to be considered as a registered volunteers. Please remind volunteers in your teams to complete such process as soon as possbile. Volunteers are also required to complete the AYSO's Safe Haven Certificate - see the posting about Safe Haven Requirement for more details. Forms can be turned in to CVPA authorized staffs. Now is the time to get your Coach certification ready for the upcoming season. Many regions will be holding coaching classes over the next few months.
