Welcome to AYSO Region 2

How Do I Volunteer For Region 2?

Thank you for deciding that you would like to dedicate some of your time to Region 2. We really do appreciate it. The next step is to complete the paperwork and necessary training. Here's what's needed... Enjoy!

  • Complete a Volunteer Application
    • The fastest way to do this is to click the Sign Up button above and follow the prompts.
    • For a slower (but more granular method) do this:
    • Login at ayso2.org (you will need to create an account if this is your first time)
    • Click on Volunteer on the left (on a mobile device you may have to swipe out from the left to reveal this option).
    • Click the Find Volunteer Roles button.
    • Select the Program you wish to volunteer for (Ex. '2023 Fall Core Season')
    • If asked, select the Division you wish to volunteer for (Ex. 10U - Girls)
    • Scroll to the bottom and click 'View Selected Opportunities'
    • Select the role you wish to volunteer for. (Ex. Head Coach). Click your name then click Continue.
    • Complete the form and provide all the requested information.
  • Complete a background check
    • After you have completed the steps above, you may be asked via a popup (and via email) to complete a Background Verification Check.
    • Follow all the steps as instructed.
    • Note that, at first glance, it may look like you are expected to pay a fee.
    • THERE IS NO COST TO YOU, REGION 2 WILL PAY FOR YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK
      • Toward the final step of the background check process you may be prompted to "help your region" and donate the fee associated with the background check.
      • DO NOT DONATE THE FEE. We do not expect any of our volunteers to be out-of-pocket.
      • As a volunteer for Region 2, the least we can do is pay for your background check.
  • Upload a selfie to use as your profile picture.
    • This is important. The picture will be used for your Volunteer ID Card. So make sure you're looking sharp on it!
You are now ready to start completing your training. The requirements differ depending on the role you are volunteering for. At a minimum, we require Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest training and SafeSport. Beyond that, we have specific training for certain roles.

A fully qualified volunteer will have met the following requirements before they can be authorized to work with our players...

  • Completed a Volunteer Application (this is an annual requirement).
  • Satisfactorily completed a background check.
  • Submitted fingerprints via LiveScan (we will reach out to you about dates when we host these events)
  • Completed all mandatory training.

MANDATORY TRAINING GUIDELINES

Every volunteer for AYSO must complete a set of mandatory training courses. They are all online and can be completed at your convenience. You must have completed your Volunteer Form before you can gain access to the training. Some volunteer roles require additional training. For example, Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches require age-appropriate Coach training. Referees need to complete training courses too.
Other roles, for example, Team Manager, Team Parent and Fundraiser do not require any additional training beyond the minimum stated below.

All courses are accessed via your Volunteer page at ayso2.org. The instructions for accessing the courses assume you are logged in at ayso2.org and are on your Volunteer page.

  • AYSO's Safe Haven Online - estimated time: 45 minutes.
  • CDC Concussion Awareness Online - estimated time: 30 minutes
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Online - estimated time: 30 minutes
    • Click the AYSOU button on your Volunteer Page to be taken to the training website.
    • Click Training Library
    • In the Safe Haven section, click View Courses
    • Enroll in each of the above classes and complete all the modules.
    • If you need to stop, do something else, and return to the class later you can do so via the My Training page
  • SafeSport - estimated time: 90 minutes
    • On your Volunteer page, click the checkbox next to SafeSport and click Renew & Update
    • Follow the directions in the pop-up to go to the SafeSport website, register and complete the training.
Completion of these courses is an investment in time and we sincerely appreciate your willingness and commitment very much. The safety and security of our players as well as the nurturing environment they will be part of is of absolute paramount importance to everyone who helps make Region 2 the outstanding community youth program that it is. Thank you for your volunteerism!
